Michael Leone
Lacrosse Coach

Michael is entering his Senior year at Hampden Sydney College, representing their Top 20 D3 Lacrosse program.

Michael was born and raised in Vienna, VA and has been playing lacrosse since he was 7 years old. He played Vienna rec league lacrosse until high school and played travel lacrosse his whole life. Michael played his freshman year of high school at Bishop O’Connell, where he was the only freshman on the team, and started every game. He then transferred to James Madison high school where he started every game for three years. Michael was a 2x captain of JMHS lacrosse team and led the team to their 2019 state championship title his junior year. That year he was first-team all district, first-team all region, and second-team all state. He tallied 80 points and was sadly not given the opportunity to repeat a state title run due to COVID-19 and the cancellation of the following season. Michael committed to play lacrosse at Hampden Sydney college where he is currently a rising senior. Over his career there he has tallied 77 points with 54 of them coming from his junior season where he started every game. HSC has been in the top 20 D3 men’s lacrosse schools every year he has been there. He was also named third-team all ODAC this past year.

"My whole life playing lacrosse, the few great coaches I had emphasized lacrosse IQ. Lacrosse IQ is what makes so many of the best players successful. I am an attackman at heart and want to help the upcoming generation of attack and middies make themselves smarter with the ball and off the ball, as well as perfecting the fundamentals of the game. With a growing sport like lacrosse it is super important to make sure that the next generation of players are learning how to play the game correctly. I look forward to being a part of this Nex-Gen team and am grateful for the opportunity to give back to the lacrosse community!"
